The city of Grenoble is nestled in a valley at the confluence of the Belledonne, Vercors, and Chartreuse mountain ranges at the foot of the French Alps. Grenoble has earned a well-deserved reputation as a great place to study, work, and live—for short stays or as a permanent home.
The GIANT Innovation Campus benefits from a prime location in Grenoble—an innovation ecosystem renowned for its groundbreaking partnerships between scientific research, higher education, industry, and government.
The organizations located on the GIANT campus share not only a geographical bond, but also a common culture of innovation and partnership. This makes GIANT the ideal place for effective long-term partnerships to take root and grow.
GIANT is located just steps away from downtown Grenoble in the Presqu’Île district between the Isère and Drac rivers. The campus is easy to reach by car or the B line of Grenoble’s efficient tramway network. The Grenoble Transportation Authority, TAG, has several stops on campus, which is also served by several TransIsère regional bus lines. Cyclists can commute right to campus on secure bike paths. Electric scooters can be rented on campus, too. And, looking ahead, GIANT will be on the future Metrocable urban cable car line, slated for completion in 2024.
GIANT is tightly integrated into the local economy and the campus’ programs, news, and partners benefit from the notoriety of the GIANT name.
GIANT pioneered the move to establish Grenoble-Alpes as a premier destination for innovation-driven businesses, and continues to serve as an ambassador for the local innovation ecosystem, actively promoting its activities.
Part of this commitment entails working closely with the departments in charge of promoting foreign direct investment at the Grenoble intermunicipal authority, Grenoble-Alpes Métropole.
In terms of international development initiatives, GIANT also contributes to Grenoble Alpes – Connexions & Actions Internationales, a collaborative online portal backed by Grenoble-Alpes Métropole, the City of Grenoble, and the Grenoble-Alpes University. The portal connects Grenoble-based stakeholders operating abroad, so that they can network, collaborate on international development activities, and access the know-how they need.
The City of Grenoble has made social and cultural diversity, livability, and environmental and energy performance priorities in its urban planning policies. GIANT is helping to bring this vision to life through the Presqu’île urban renewal project.
