The atomic-level structure of bacteria-derived tryptophan synthase (TS) – a key enzyme involved in the ability of salmonella and other bacteria to cause infection – has been revealed by a collaborative project that combined unique expertise and capabilities at Toledo University and the Deuteration laboratory at the Institut Laue Langevin (ILL), crystallization on board the International Space Station and the world-leading neutron crystallography beamline – LADI-DALI – at the ILL.
